The Musicians of Bremen – Partial Perusal
The four animals are represented by their own instruments: the donkey as euphonium, playing the main theme; a muted trumpet represents the dog, supported with a dog-barking cuica; the clarinets play the cat; and the rooster is the cockle-doodling of an Eb Clarinet and Alto Saxophone. There is an active section in which the animals attack the robbers chaotically in their hideout. The piece concludes festively with the animals celebrating their success, dancing together to a lightly styled swing finish.
